Breaking the Pattern - update

by Znethru @ 2008-05-29 - 19:58:49

I've had a few more very positive comments off-blog (or really, off-tube) on both music and lyrics.

This also just in from Canada Radio!

Dear Sir:

Thank you very much for your e-mail of the 26th. It has been forwarded to the head of our "Maple Leaf Mailbag" program, in case he should wish to mention it on air.

Yours very truly,

Favourable biz reply #1

by Znethru @ 2008-05-28 - 10:21:23

Hi, thanks for getting in touch.

Very nice song and performance, but it’s not right for us really I’m afraid. [Not surprising as this is a "mood music library", I was really writing to them for advice on where best to go with the song!]

As for places to send it, I would try any of the major publishing companies like Warners or Sony, but also it would be good to sign with a talent agent or manager– they are usually the best people for contacts and will be helpful for development, although don’t let them take more than 20% (known as ‘points’, as you may know!)

I would also recommend getting hold of the Music Week directory from here for contacts - http://www.subscription.co.uk/home/prods.asp?m=538

All the best,

Struan

Now it's time to get on to the next project... presumably completing the Switzerland April '09 album.

Plenty of other things happening as well. It's not like I sit here waiting for emails to arrive!

Putting it to bed now, unless...

Warner - tips (if no email) are provided.

by Znethru @ 2008-05-25 - 18:02:02

Demos should only be submitted to Warner Music Group's record labels (e.g., Atlantic, Elektra, Warner Bros.) for consideration, not directly to Warner Music Group. However, please note that Warner Music Group's record labels do not accept unsolicited materials. This means that your demo must be recommended to our labels by an established industry professional (manager, agent, lawyer, journalists, one of our artists, etc.). Industry professionals that understand the creative goals of our record labels are best suited to make these recommendations. We strongly suggest you seek out the assistance of one of these individuals.
